As such Town's home game against Runcorn Linnets has had to be rearranged and will now take place on Friday 8th May at Valerie Park, Prescot kick off 7.45pm.

Wednesday 29th April

Town come from behind to secure an excellent 3-1 victory against FA Vase Finalists Glossop North End and gained revenge for the 6-0 drubbing at Knowsley Road in March. Paul Monteith ensured that the visitors went in at the break level. Goals after the interval from Karl Ledsham (another one to add to his personal goal of the season competition!) and a late strike from Brian Hatton secured the win against Glossop who went into the match in 3rd position.

Monday 27th April

The winning run came to an end with an after the Lord Mayors Parade performance as Town sank to a 3-0 reverse at Knowsley Road against Nelson this evening.

Saturday 25th April

St Helens Town secure their Vodkat Premier League status with a dramatic 5-4 victory over Abbey Hey at Knowsley Road this afternoon. A brace from Phil Mitchell a goal from Mike Scully and a quick double from Karl Ledsham including a contender for goal of the season made it four wins out of four.

Tuesday 21st April

Town make it three wins in a row as they secure a 4-0 victory over Colne, goals from Brian Hatton, Andy Webster and a Phil Mitchell brace saw Town climb to 19th position.

Monday 13th April

St Helens Town's trip to Colne sees them secure a 3-1 victory and make it an impressive 7 days for the club with 2 wins and a draw in the week. Town went into a 2-0 lead with goals from Karl Ledsham and Adam Gilchrist but the hosts hit back and it was a nervous last 15 minutes until Iain Dyson netted a third in added on time to secure all three points.

Saturday 11th April

An excellent team performance sees Town come from a goal behind to put 7th placed Squires Gate to the sword and secure an impressive 3-1 victory. Adam Gilchrist, Brian Hatton and an own goal were enough to secure the spoils on a sunny afternoon in Blackpool.

Tuesday 7th April

Town earn a point with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Maine Road at Knowsley Road this evening their secondd clean sheet in the last three matches.

Saturday 4th April

Wednesday 1st April

St Helens Town has great pleasure in welcoming former player Gary Bickerstaffe to Knowlsey Road. Gary will manage team affairs alongside club captain Iain Dyson during the final 10 games of the 2008-09 campaign.

Gary, who hails from Haydock, has a great deal of experience of North West Counties football over recent seasons and was a stalwart of S. Helens Town during the late 1980s and 1990s at Hoghton Road.

Tuesday 31st March

Town gain a welcome three points with a well earned 1-0 victory over one of the form sides of March Formby at Knowsley Road. A Neil Jones headed goal on 76 minutes was enough to take the spoils and hopefully start the drive to avoid relegation.

Saturday 28th March

An entertaining match at the Riverside Ground this afternoon saw Town take an early lead through Karl Ledsham only to go in at the break 3-1 down and reduced to 10 men after Neil Jones' sending off. Ramsbottom netted an early 2nd half goal but Town showed great spirit to get back to 4-3 with an Iain Dyson penalty and a spectacular strike from Karl Ledsham. Howevert he visitors were to rue missed chances as Ramsbottom ended up running out 6-3 winners.

Friday 27th March

It is with some regret that the club has to announce the departure of manager John Fletcher. Following a meeting with the club's Chairman John McKiernan earlier today it was agreed in light of recent poor performances and the club's precarious league position that a change was required.

The club would like to place on record its thanks and appreciation to Fletch for his hard work, commitment and service to St. Helens Town over the past couple of seasons; especially taking into account how difficult it has been (and will continue to be) to manage a team playing at this level without any financial resources.

Club captain Iain Dyson will take charge of team affairs at Ramsbottom United tomorrow and the club will hope to clarify the managerial position after the weekend.

Tuesday 24th March

Town sink to a 6-0 loss against Glossop North End this evening.

Tuesday 17th March

Congleton Town visitied Knowsley Road and left with three points after a 2-1 victory. The visitors took an early lead but Town dug in and 1-0 was the interval scoreline. Congleton doubled their lead on a counter attack after a period of Town pressure before Tom Baker netted to get the hosts back into the game but Town could not register again.

A delepted St Helens Town side fell to a disapointing 3-0 reverse at the hands of Flixton this afternoon at Valley Road.

Tuesday 10th March

Town turn in an awful performance and sink it a disapointing 3-1 defeat against Ramsbottom United at Knwosley Road. John Elias netted a late consoloation for the hosts.

Saturday 7th March

The relegation battle ends all square as Town draw 1-1 with Atherton Collieries at Knowsley Road this afternoon. Town fell behind to a 56th minute goal but a wonderful strike from Tom Baker after 71 minutes was enough to secure a share of the spoils for the hosts.

Tuesday 3rd March

Town secure a league double over Winsford with a 2-0 victory this evening at The Barton Stadium. Goals from Marc Stephens & Anthony Warriner in the first half hour of the game secured all three points and leap-frogged them back over Atherton Collieries into 20th position.

Saturday 28th February

A goal from Brian Hatton was enough to earn St Helens Town a well desereved point at Nelson this afternoon.

Tuesday 24th February

Town sank to a disapointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Atherton LR this evening at Crilly Park.

Saturday 21st February

Tuesday 17th February

Town finally got on the pitch but fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of 2nd placed Newcastle Town at Knowsley Road this evening. Iain Dyson netted for the hosts his 15th goal of the season.

Monday 9th February

This evenings scheduled friendly match against Knowsley Dallas has been postponed. The lesuire centre have contacted us to inform us that due to the cold weather condition the astroturf is potentially dangerous and therefore we will not be allowed to use it this evening. Manager John Fletcher will be looking to arrange a game for this coming Saturday and information will be posted when known.

Friday 6th February

The spell without a League match will be extended a few days as due to Glossop North End's FA Vase at Bitton being postponed today the game will be rescheduled for next Saturday, 14th February meaning that the scheduled league match between Glossop and Town will not take place. John Fletcher has scheduled a friendly match against Knowsley Dallas at Prescot Lesiure Centre this Monday 9th February kick off 8pm.

Saturday 3rd January

This afternoon's scheduled match at Nelson is off due to a frozen pitch.

Friday 26th December

Town finished the year of 2008 the way they started it on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline. A depleted line up with several players missing either through suspension, injury or family commitments was no match for Ashton Athletic and several shocking errors did not help matters as Town sank to defeat in the chills of the festive season.

Saturday 20th December

St Helens Town rose off the foot of the table with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Silsden at Knowsley Road this afternoon. Vinny Freeman netted an early goal for Town but Silsden levelled soon afterwards. The teams went in on terms at the break but Town stepped up a gear and Phil Mitchell put them back in the lead with a curling free kick before adding his second and Town's third with a fine run. Brother Graeme Mitchell secured the points scoring a fourth after a sublime touch, probably the goal of the game.

Saturday 13th December

A disapointing afternoon sees Town dominate the first half against Flixton but fail to register a goal and then play poorly in the second period and fall to a 2-0 reverse.

Tuesday 9th December

This evening's scheduled match at AFC Fylde has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday 6th December

Town start the month with their heaviest defeat of the season, a 7-1 reverse at the hands of New Mills. Town's goal was scored by Iain Dyson. The result and the fact that Flixton's match was off sees Town fall to 22nd the first time we have been bottom of the league this season.

Saturday 29th November

Town end the month with a much improved display and take a 2-0 lead at Abbey Hey only to be thwarted by a late leveller in the 5th minute of added on time which saw the game end 2-2. First half goals from Adam Gilchrist and Graeme Mitchell had put Town in the accendancy but more wastlefulness in front of goal coupled with a fight back from the hosts saw Town return to Merseyside with a one point return when they deserved all three.

Tuesday 25th November

An abject display at Formby sees Town fall to a 5-1 defeat after taking a 1-0 lead through a goal from Graeme Mitchell. This result saw Formby leap frog Town and a Flixton win sees them only below us on goal difference. St Helens Town after losing 10 league matches in a row are now firmly entrenched in a relegation battle.

Saturday 22nd November

St Helens Town go down 1-0 at home to Alsager Town this afternoon.

Tuesday 18th November

An entertaining match at Knowsley Road sees Town go down 6-3 against high flying Atherton LR. A barce from Iain Dyson and an effort from Brian Hatton were not enough to gain Town any return from the match and it is now 10 defeats in a row for St Helens.

Saturday 15th November

This afternoon's match is off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday 8th November

It was Cup action this afternoon at Knowsley Road as Runcorn Linnets visited for the Vodkat League Challenge Cup, 2nd Round. Town ended up on the wrong end of 2-1 result with John Elias netting for St Helens.

Tuesday 28th October

Town end the month with a sixth defeat and seven in succesion as they go down 2-1 at home against Ashton Athletic, Iain Dyson netted for Town.

Saturday 25th Ocotber

Town suffer their 6th defeat in a row as league leaders AFC Fylde triumph 3-0 at Knowsley Road, the scoreline did not reflect the game as the hosts more than matched their high flying visitors for long periods of the game.

Saturday 18th October

A seven goal thriller at Knowsley Road sees Town lose 4-3 against Bacup Borough. The hosts lead 1-0 after an early Iain Dyson goal and 2-1 via a solo effort from Adam Gilchrist. The sides went in level at the break and a two goal salvo from Bacup in a ten minutes spell after the break saw Town 4-2 down. Iain Dyson netted a third for St Helens, his 10th of the season but Bacup held on for the victory.

Tuesday 14th October

Town's game at Atherton LR has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday 11th October

An excellent performance from St Helens Town saw them more than match their high flying hosts Newcastle Town at The Lyme Valley Parkway Stadium this afternoon. The game was decided on a rather harsh penalty decision in favour of the home side which was converted to give the hosts a 1-0 win.

Tuesday 7th October

This evenings scheduled match at AFC Fylde has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday 4th October

A much depleted Town squad slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Bacup Borough this afternoon.

Wednesday 1st October

Town exit the Liverpool Senior Cup in controversial circumstances at the hands of East Villa. Town took the lead through Iain Dyson before the hosts levelled and the sides went into the interval locked at 1-1. East Villa netted first in the second half before Paul Monteith levelled and Iain Dyson looked to have sealed Town's passage into the next round. Villa levelled again 4 minutes from time when Tony Lipson pushed the ball home with his hand and amazingly the "goal" was allowed to stand. Town old boy Lee Pegram came back to haunt his former team netting in extra time and John Elias was sent off disputing the goal. Villa added another two goals when the visitors were reduced to ten men but Town will be cursing their luck as the handball for Villa's third goal was clear for most people in the ground to see, obviously with some notable exceptions.

Saturday 27th September

On a glorious sunny September afternoon St Helens started off on fire but squandered three great chances in the opening 15 minutes and ended up on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline much to the disapointment of all involved.

Monday 22nd September

St Helens Town returned to League action and made it four wins out of five as they recorded a 3-0 victory against Atherton Collieries at Alder Street. A brace from Graeme Mitchell and a goal from Mike Scully on his first start of the season was enough to secure all three points as Town rise to 9th in the table.

Saturday 20th September

Town fell at the first hurdle in the FA Vase at Knowsley Road this afternoon. The hosts took a first half lead when Phil Mitchell netted but two second half goals from Ashton Athletic including the winner in the four minute of added in time saw Town exit the Vase for another season.

Saturday 13th September

Town return from Yorkshire defeated by Silsden 2-1 and wondering how it happened after dominating the majority of the game. Town took the lead early on through Iain Dyson, the skipper then had two goals disallowed for offside which looked dubious to the naked eye and on video replay were both proved to be onside. This would have almost certainly have put the game beyond the hosts. Silsden levelled just before the break and netted the winner around the hour mark, one of only two chances they created in the 2nd half.

Tuesday 9th September

The month of September belatedly started well for Town with a fine 2-1 victory over New Mills at Knwosley Road. Goals from Graeme Mitchell and Iain Dyson secured three points for the hosts as they rose to 6th position leap frogging New Mills in the process

Sunday 31st August

Town's scheduled midweek match at AFC Fylde has been postponed as the hosts will be involved in an FA Cup replay. With Town being the "odd man out" this coming Saturday with 9 Premier Division clubs involved in the FA Vase 1st Qualifying round and the remaining club playing league fixtures it means that the club will not have a match until Tuesday 9th September when they host New Mills.

Saturday 30th August

Town ended the month with a disapointing performance and sank to their first competative defeat of the season and exited the FA Cup in the process. A late consolation from Iain Dyson, his fourth of the season was the only bright point on a dismal day in Bacup.

Saturday 23rd August

Town secure a 2-1 victory at Maine Road to make it six points from six in the League. A late goals from Chris Bermingham and an Iain Dyson penalty ensured that St Helens will end the month of August with a 100% record in the League.

Tuesday 19th August

Town advance to the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup with a hard fought 1-0 victory at Knowsley Road. Graeme Mitchell's 68th minute goal was enough to earn the hosts a visit to Bacup in the nect round. The win came at a heafty cost with skipper Iain Dyson going off with concussion after a quarter of an hour and more seriously keeper Andy Lynskey have to be replaced after he broke his ankle in three places after an incident half an hour into the game.

Saturday 16th August

Town come from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Holker Old Boys in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round this afternoon. Goals from Graeme Mitchell and Iain Dyson mean that the two sides will meet again on Tuesday evening at Knowsley Road, kick off 7-45pm

Wednesday 13th August

The opening rounds of the Liverpool Senior Cup have been draw and Town's games are as follows;

Tuesday 12th August

This evenings match at Knowsley Road against Atherton LR has fell foul of the awful recent weather. The pitch was waterlogged and failed an afternoon pitch inspection.

Saturday 9th August

Town start the season off on a winning note recording a 3-2 victory at Alsager Town. The visitors went in at the interval with a 1-0 lead after Graeme Mitchell had headed a corner home. Skipper Iain Dyson made it 2-0 not long after the break before the hosts pulled one back with a penalty. Phil Mitchell restored the two goal advantage when he netted to end a great counter attack and the hosts added a late consolation 5 minutes into added on time. The result sees St Helens in 5th place after the first match of the season.

Tuesday 5th August

Town ended their pre-season preparations with an excellent 3-2 victory over UniBond Premier League Prescot Cables. Town went into the interval 2-0 up through an Iain Dyson brace and the skipper made it 3-0 to the visitors not long after the restart. Town old boy Darren Byers pulled one back almost instantanously and Eammon Price netted a second to set up a nervous finish for Town but they were not to be denied and held on for an morale boosting victory over their near neighbours.

Saturday 2nd August

Town start August off with a well deserved 2-0 victory over Beeches this afternoon. A first half goal from Graeme Mitchell was added to by a wonderful solo effort from Adam Gilchrist in the second period.

Tuesday 29th July

A poor performance saw Town sink to their first defeat of the pre-season campaign. A 10th minute Helsby goal was enough for the hosts to secure victory.

Saturday 26th July

Town continued their excellent pre-season form by recording a comfortable 7-0 victory over FC Bootle this afternoon at Bobbies Lane. Goals from Cole, Mahama, Walker, a Graeme Mitchell brace, an own goal and even keeper Lynskey chipped in with a penalty to ensure that Town go into Tuesday's match with Helsby still unbeaten.

Tuesday 22nd July

Town secured their first win of the pre-season campaign, recording a 2-0 vuctory over Vauxhall Motors Rerserves at Rivacre Park. After a scrappy opening half hour Town opened the scoring when Steve Edwards headed home at the far post after an exchange between Paul Cliff and Andy Walker saw the latter deliver an excellent cross. After plenty of pressure from the visitors, Town finally put the game beyond Motors when Iain Dyson latched onto Karl Ledsham's through ball and rounded the keeper to slot home.

Monday 21st July

Town have added an extra pre-season match as they will be taking on West Cheshire League outfit Helsby at the Helsby Community Sports Club on Tuesday 29th July, Kick off 7PM.

Full fixtures on the Fixtures/Results page.

Thursday 17th July

Town begin their pre-season schedule with a 1-1 draw against AFC Liverpool at Edge Green Street, Ashton. The newly formed side took the lead after half an hour from the penalty spot and Neil Jones levelled via the same method on 51 minutes. Town then dominated but failed to convert any of their numerous chances and a great double save by Andy Lynskey ensured that Town got the draw they at least deserved.
